AMCs Engaged! is tailored to meet the unique challenges of the AMC community and help professionals prepare for the changing business landscape. Whether you're part of the leadership team of an experienced association management company, a new owner navigating the first few years, or an entrepreneur investigating the strengths of the AMC model, you can join your peers for a day-long deep-dive into current trends and topics impacting the changing workforce of AMCI members. During the sessions, hear the latest research, best-practice company experiences, and emerging trends affecting the future of work. Your time will be enhanced by making connections with other professionals that provide management solutions.

#MeToo, Now What? Preparing our Companies and the Associations we Serve for the New Era of Inclusiveness and Accountability

1. Human Resources - Benefits, Recruitment and Talent Management
Karen Kramer, Association Management Center and Sonya Tolson, Kellen

Explore several components of talent management which lead to a highly effective workplace, including performance management and employee development. The facilitators and attendees will discuss best practices and solutions to foster an engaged workforce.

2. Is Culture Eating your AMCs Strategy for Breakfast?
Amy Lotz, CAE, MCI USA and Carolyn Price, CAE, CMP Management, Inc.

Culture is the character and personality of your organization, and shows both your staff and clients the sum of your values, traditions, beliefs and behaviors. Many of us tout our culture without really knowing what it is or means – and how we can use the positive elements of our culture to attract new business. Join two AMCs with different sizes, geographic locations and client bases as they help us explore both the elements to celebrate, as well as areas for development that will improve both your staff and client experiences.

3. Talent: Rent, Own or Buy?
Erin Fuller,FASAE, MPA, CAE MCI USA, Mike Dwyer, CAE Association Headquarters, Chris McDonnell, McDonnell Capital Management

Professional services firms are nothing without their workforce – relationships, chemistry, skills, tenure and expertise all directly lead to winning new business and retaining existing clients. However, each internal hire carries a significant cost – beyond salary, there is real estate, insurance, and other infrastructure costs. How do we make the call of when to trust an outside vendor to partner on our business operations and development? How do we appropriately vet those partners, at the outset of the relationship as well as on an ongoing basis? And when do we make the decision to either keep or pull services back to in-house staff? Join colleagues who have both recently outsourced and insourced significant functions, as well as a professional that adds value to AMC client-facing work.
